SS12 Trends New York

New York inspired by a trip from Africa to the Tropics, floral spectacles and a luxurious take on sports attire. The collections seem to be going on the same feminine trend that all fashion weeks seem to have, but New York differentiates itself by doing things with a more sports-centric scheme. Personal favorites coming from Prabal Gurung, Altuzurra, and A.Wang. Generally, I leaned on the louder and sportsy looking pieces as a refresher of sorts from all the soft feminine touches we’ve seen in the past few posts. I also enjoyed getting a bit of culture from Thakoon, Proenza Schouler and Michael Kors. It makes me excited with the prospect of travelling again.

Recalling color predictions for SS12–we see a lot of strong blue and yellow tones, as well as, use of plastic finishes, sports meshes and breathable fabrics for garments.
